Welcome To CRAWL Martial Arts!

Our vision is to create a harmonious society rooted in respect, self-discipline, and mutual benefit, shaping strong individuals who contribute meaningfully to their communities.

CRAWL Martial Arts inspires and empowers a new generation of leaders by sharing the timeless principles of Judo with toddlers and their caregivers.

Our unique parent & toddler program offers a family bonding experience while fostering confidence, respect, and essential life skills for 2-4 year old students.

What CRAWL Stands For

Confidence

Confidence is the belief in oneself. Self-belief can be developed through things like goal setting, skill improvement, and public speaking.

We increase toddlers' confidence through the use of goal charts, fundamental skill-development exercises, classroom demonstrations, and more!

Respect

Respect is the cornerstone of martial arts and a fundamental concept that involves honoring the worth and dignity of all individuals.

We explain to toddlers that respect is 'kindness'. Our program encourages kindness, consideration, and empathy towards the self, others, and environment.

Examples include listening to others, taking turns, cleaning up, and being mindful of others' feelings.

Awareness

Awareness refers to the ability to perceive, understand, and be mindful of oneself, others, and the environment.

Awareness encompasses both internal awareness, such as being in tune with one's feelings, and external awareness, which involves observing the world around us.

Our program strives to build toddlers' awareness by using verbal cues, providing visual tools, and upholding classroom etiquette.

Willpower

Willpower is the mental strength and determination to pursue goals, overcome challenges, and resist distractions. It involves the ability to control impulses, stay focused on tasks, and persevere in the face of adversity.

Willpower enables individuals to make choices that align with their long-term objectives, even when short-term comfort may be tempting.

We strive to build toddlers' willpower through positive reinforcement, structured classes, and routine building.

Leadership

Leadership involves the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide others towards a common goal or vision. It involves empowering individuals to achieve their full potential and contribute positively to the collective effort.

Leadership includes qualities such as integrity, empathy, and effective communication.

We build leaders by first and foremost, leading by example. In addition to the leadership embodied by instructors, we help toddlers develop leadership qualities through active listening drills, counting in front of the class, and maintaining an uplifting culture.

Our Story

Passing on the Spirit of Judo

Founded by Sensei Casey Pedro in 2018, CRAWL Martial Arts was created not just to teach toddlers and parents the sport of judo, but to share something deeper — the rich Japanese culture and timeless values at the heart of the martial art.

Through the CRAWL program, martial arts becomes a vehicle for nurturing confidence, respect, awareness, willpower, and leadership — qualities that young children can carry with them far beyond the mats.

Our Roots

A Family Tradition

Judo runs deep in the Pedro family. Casey's grandfather, James Pedro Sr., was the first to discover the art and fell in love with it, eventually opening his own dojo and coaching his son, Jimmy Pedro. Years later, Jimmy carried on the family legacy by founding what is now Pedro’s Judo Center in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

Our mission

Why CRAWL Matters

At its core, CRAWL Martial Arts is about planting seeds. The program is designed not just to prepare children for the next level of martial arts, but to help them internalize lasting values.

The name CRAWL reflects both those values and the early stage of life the program serves, a time when learning is playful, exploratory, and full of discovery.
